We’re hiring an AmeriCorps Warehouse Associate & Driver!

Join the EFN team and be a part of our Distribution Center that is responsible for the distribution of 14 million pounds of food to food pantries in Pierce County, WA each year. Visits to food pantries went up 40% in 2020, this number is expected to continue to increase as a result of the global pandemic and economic crisis. To meet the increased need, EFN is purchasing and procuring more food than ever before. To keep up with the additional food distribution, we need a reliable and team-oriented Warehouse Associate and Driver to help build orders, deliver food to Partner Programs, pick up food donations, manage paperwork, and support day to day operations. We are interested in training this member on the forklift, pallet jack, and support the acquisition of a Commercial Driver’s License. Read here about the benefits of being an AmeriCorps member.

Program Start/End Date:

September 1, 2021 – July 15, 2022 (10.5 months)

Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

  • Operate equipment such as forklifts and powered/manual pallet jacks in a safe manner (training provided)
  • Deliver food or pick up donations using box truck or semi-truck (CDL training and licensing may be provided in partnership with WSC and the Dept. of Commerce)
  • Build orders for food pantries, including physically moving product weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Load/unload trucks; receive and count stock items, and record data manually or into the computer
  • Track the status of incoming and outgoing food items and supplies utilizing Outlook and Excel
  • Maintain an accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting
  • Communicate professionally with food pantry managers, volunteers, truck drivers, and EFN staff
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn safe operation of forklifts and trucks
  • Experience with excel and data management preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly

Compensation:

This year’s monthly stipend is at an increased rate of $2,393 due to Covid-19 response funding to AmeriCorps programs, members will also receive an Education Award of $6,195 at the end of their term.
