Mother Earth Farm Update

High season was a hot and smokey one at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm! Nevertheless, the amazing EFN staff, our crew from Washington Correctional Center for Women, and fearless volunteers helped us have a wildly successful harvest season.

In August, we had our hands full with a bumper crop of beautiful beans, tomatoes, and squash! The heat made our squash grow so fast that we could barely keep up!

The highlight of our August events was Field to Feast, a very special gourmet dinner at the farm. We are still dreaming about the chilled buttermilk cucumber soup and other inspired dishes at the event. Get your tickets for next year’s Field to Feast at EFN’s Abundance Dinner & Auction in October.

Harvested this month: green beans, carrots, beets, kholrobi, napa cabbage, peppers, tomatillo, tomatoes, chard, kale, collards, onions, basil, summer squash, zucchini, cucumber, apples, plums, and peaches.
