Mother Earth Farm Update

Here at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm there is a lot to be grateful for. All our major planting is done thanks to our amazing crew and the helping hands of our volunteers!

Now it is our time to take stock of the work we have done. We have spent this month taking care of our orchards by thinning fruit and fertilizing, weeding countless fields, doing small plantings of greens, and harvesting our early season crops. Now, when we walk out to the fields we see nothing but potential: little apples blushing pink, tomato flowers turning into fruit, and happy bees fertilizing our squash flowers.

This month we had close to a hundred volunteers at the farm. These folks came out with corporate groups, as well as individuals and families dedicated to helping their neighbors in need. EFN’s Mother Earth Farm hosted two very successful Brewer’s Nights events where local brews and weeds were quickly finished off. Our work of farming highly nutritious produce for those in need in this county would be impossible without the support of our volunteers.

This month we harvested: lettuce, cabbage, kale, collards, chard, kohlrabi, turnips, radishes and just a few beautiful beet bunches.
