The Fresh Express Mobile Market operates alongside Tacoma Farmers Market’s three primary markets: Broadway, Point Ruston, and Eastside. The Mobile Market stands out not just because of its apparent differences in size and mobility but also because of the frequency it operates. It is open three days a week in locations as diverse as Hilltop, Lakebay, Parkland, University Place, South Tacoma, and Salishan while also providing Home Delivery. The Mobile Market operates in a variety of settings, too, including community and cultural centers, a church, and low-income housing developments. In a place where community members already feel comfortable, fresh food comes to them!
In addition to bringing fresh local food to community spaces, the Mobile Market brings programs that increase folks’ ability to utilize the market. Most popular is the SNAP Market Match, which allows customers in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to ‘double their dollars’ at the market, up to $40! Kids’ nutrition is a priority, too – in partnership with Tacoma Housing Authority, the Mobile Market provides a free piece of fruit to kids at their THA locations. People of every age love Washington-grown apples!
Featuring items from over 30 local vendors, the Mobile Market brings a wide array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, tofu, oil and vinegar, hot sauce, beverages, and more to communities across the county.
