Wine & Weeding at Mother Earth Farm @ Emergency Food Network Mother Earth Farm
Jul 22 @ 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm

wineheader

Join us at Mother Earth Farm for Wine & Weeding! Between intermittent sessions of weeding veggies, we will sample different wine varieties with University of Puget Sound’s Associate Professor, Pierre Ly. Throughout the tasting you will be invited to guess which grape varieties each wine may be. But don’t worry, you don’t need to know anything about wine. We’ll have little cheat sheets with the classic taste descriptions of these grapes to see if anyone can match them with the wines! In addition, Pierre has prepared a tasting related to organic wine in theme with Mother Earth Farm’s organic practices.

Pierre Ly teaches several courses in international political economy, including, The Idea of Wine. His research interests include the political economy of wine, economic development, and NGOs. Pierre has done fieldwork with NGOs in Bangladesh and, more recently, in the Chinese wine industry.

21 and up. Photo ID and event RSVP required.
This event is free! To help with cost we suggest a $10 donation.

By invitation only. To receive your invitation and registration confirmation, please contact our Coordinator of Volunteer Activities at (253) 584-1040 or merrit@efoodnet.org.

Mother Earth Farm (Winter Session) @ Emergency Food Network Mother Earth Farm
Jan 5 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

At Mother Earth Farm, we are now growing fresh, organic produce year-round for Pierce County food banks! During the winter months, we distribute more than 13,000 pounds of cool-weather produce such as leafy greens, Brussels sprouts, and tatsoi.

Stay warm and dry while lending a hand at Mother Earth Farm during our winter sessions! Volunteers are needed to help with weeding in our industrial-sized high tunnels. No experience is needed! EFN staff will be on site to provide you with training and supervision. Gloves and tools will be provided. Families and youth groups of all ages are welcome to volunteer at the farm (children ages 15 and under need to be accompanied by an adult).

Registration is required. Due to safety reasons and limited capacity at the farm, we ask volunteers to not drop-in.

To register, please contact EFN’s Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@efoodnet.org or (253) 584-1040.
