What is Plant an Extra Row?
Plant an Extra Row is a project of Emergency Food Network to help feed the hungry by encouraging gardeners to grow a little extra produce and donate it to local food banks.
Why Plant an Extra Row?
In 2010, Emergency Food Netowrk distributed food to more than 65 food banks and hot meal sites that provided over 14 million meals to more than 300,000 clients. In recent years, food programs have experienced a large increase in the number of clients seeking emergency food.
What can you do to help?
· Plant an extra row of vegetables, fruits and/or herbs in your garden.
· Deliver the harvest to a food bank near you.
· Encourage others to Plant an Extra Row.
