Volunteers of the Quarter: Oct – Dec 2017

We are thrilled to bring in the New Year by highlighting two exceptional groups that have gone above-and-beyond in their volunteer service!

Gordon Thomas Honeywell

There are numerous ways to get involved at EFN and Gordon Thomas Honeywell (GTH) has done it all! Employees from GTH have served on our Board of Directors since 2009 and our Ambassador Board since 2013. They have repacked 13,545 pounds of food since 2014 and donated more than 8,000 pounds of food from their office food drive. (Not to mention they have sponsored EFN events since 2002 and regularly make donations from their office jeans days!).

“We have a history of community engagement going back for more than 120 years,” it states on the GTH website. “We expect our lawyers to be active in our community and they are community all-stars in a variety of arenas.” This is followed by a list of more than 60 local non-profits, schools, and organizations that GTH supports…we are absolutely honored to be on that list!

Thank you to everyone at GTH for your years of service helping our neighbors in need.

Stop Poverty Foundation

Stop Poverty Foundation approached us last summer with an interest in volunteering at EFN once a week. Every week since then they have rotated a group of volunteers between the various positions reserved for them.

They lend a hand at the Repack Project repacking oats and beans, they serve food to Mobile Food Bank guests at two different sites, and during the growing season they helped pull weeds at our Mother Earth Farm. They come with smiling faces, a willingness to work hard, and are ready to help our neighbors in need regardless of the task. And they’ve signed up again to volunteer every week in 2018!

Thank you Stop Poverty Foundation for your weekly dedication so that no one goes hungry.
